SHORT FILM & DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL
Films has always fascinated human life. We, Department of Communication Studies at New Arts Commerce & Science College, have started PRATIBIMB FILM FESTIVAL (PFF) in the year 2008. The key motive is to promote and encourage awareness, appreciation and understanding of the art of cinema in and around us. PFF is determined to present the most outstanding films produced around the globe to the audience. PFF is determined to nurture the innovative ideas of filmmaking and to provide talented filmmakers a wider attention by showcasing their art to the audience in the National Level Competition held simultaneously. As an Educational Institution PFF mainly identifies, chooses, and introduces the best Student Filmmakers along with Professional Filmmakers, in order to encourage them. Also promote artistic and cultural interactions among students. PFF confer an opportunity to the independent as well as amateur filmmakers to participate in competition. Through different awards in various categories, our goal is to sustain, instigate and discover independent Short Film and Documentary makers by providing them a reputed exhibition platform. PFF is a wonderful juncture to showcase Short Films and Documentaries for Filmmakers.

Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj is one of the oldest and pioneering societies/trusts dedicated to promoting education since its inception in 1918. The late Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur not only inspired but also provided financial support for the establishment of the society. The journey commenced with the creation of the Late Hutatma Karveer Chatrapati Chauthe Shivaji Maharaj Maratha Boarding in 1918. Subsequently, in 1941, the society expanded its efforts with the establishment of the Residential High School, formerly known as Tagore High School. During this time, the society showed a strong dedication to advancing education, leading to a notable increase in development speed.
The primary objective of the society/trust has been to offer education to economically disadvantaged communities, as well as those affected by famine and residing in rural areas. The society has successfully established a network of 89 educational units, encompassing 12 Higher & Technical colleges, 25 Higher Secondary Schools, 48 Secondary Schools, and 4 Primary & Ashram Schools across the Ahmednagar district. These institutions provide education in diverse fields such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Engineering, Business Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Communication Studies, and Hotel Management.
The New Arts, Commerce, and Science College in Ahmednagar was established in 1970. The college stands as a testament to the successful efforts of Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj. It is inspired by Chhatrapati Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, hence dedicated to educating the weaker sections of society.
Chhatrapati Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj’s philanthropy in 1918 led to the construction of Maratha Boarding in memory of Karveer Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj IV. This memorial complex also commemorates the unfortunate incident where Shivaji Maharaj IV was humiliated, assassinated in the Ahmednagar fort by the British, and cremated on the other side of the educational complex.
Vision and Mission:
The institute’s growth over the past 100 years aligns with its motto, “TejoSi Tejo Me Dehi,” which translates to “Oh God! You are the Source of Luster, Grant Me Luster.”
